Samanthan Ronson, a fashionista?

Samantha Ronson, a fashion inspiration, who would've thought?!?!

When we think Sam Ronson, we think fedora-style black hat (covering up a bad hair day, I always assumed) and those faded black skinnies she never seems to change out of. Let's just say, she definitely wouldn't be my go-to gal when in dire need for a wardrobe consultation. So, we thought Lindsay Lohan was just crying out for some more media attention and paparazzi action when she and her gal pal (or alleged lesbian partner) Ronson came out in matching black hats. However, it's not only Lindsay who seems to be catching on to this look à la Sam Ronson.

Rachel Bilson (left), who is known for her chic and always stylish ensembles, was photographed outside Crown Lounge a couple of weeks ago in a Ronson-esque black hat.

Also, Lauren Conrad (right), donned a similar style hat in her photo shoot for CosmoGIRL mag (coming out in September).

So, what do you think ladies, is Ronson the inspiration for the new "It" hat?

Tuck 'er in

I know sometimes it's hard to admit, but celebs are often our style inspirations and go-to gals for newest trends and fashion must-haves. Throughout my recurrent visits to perezhilton.com and theskinnywebsite.com (yes, i'll admit it, i'm obsessed) I've noticed some overwhelming similarities between the ensembles of Nicole Richie, Kristin Cavallari (we still love her for all her bad girl ways) and our much-loved LC, or Lauren Conrad. Not too long ago, all of us ladies were rocking our shirt-dresses and leggings and I know all of you have a wardrobe full of those racer back extra long tanks that flooded Aritzia and Garage last year. Nowadays, celebs are strutting there stuff in wide-leg, high-waisted jeans and tucking in there shirts.. and it looks fab! Tucking in our shirts gives our legs an extra long look and creates a slimming effect. I know, a couple years ago I would've heard this and thought tucking in shirts and high-waists were totally soccer mom but celebs have shown us how to rock this look the right way. To make sure you pull off this look correctly, your jeans should be snug fit and the tuck has to be just right. Not too tucked where it looks and feels uncomfortable and not too un-tucked because that'll just add more volume where you don't need it. I know, sounds complicated, but you'll master the look in no time.

P.S. if you're extra daring try LC's look and tuck your tops into denim short shorts. Hurry though, summer ain't gunna be here forever!

Carmindy inspired make-up

I don’t think anyone can seem to get enough of fashionista Stacy London and partner in crime, Clinton Kelly, on TLC’s “What Not to Wear”. However, the remarkable transformations could not be possible without world renowned make-up artist, Carmindy. Fortunately, for those of us who are make-up obsessed, Carmindy has partnered up with Sally Hansen to create her very own make-up line consisting of all the essentials including blush, bronzer and lip gloss. Finally, we will be able to create that perfected and flawlessly glam look Carmindy is, so effortlessly, able to achieve. That’s not all; Carmindy’s line, named “Natural Beauty”, is Paraban-free! For those of you who don’t know, Paraban is a group of chemicals widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry. Although Paraban has not proven to have any adverse effects, we shopaholics always opt for the safer route when it comes to our beauty products! “Natural Beauty” contains all natural nutrients such as avocado oil, mango butter and grapefruit and papaya extract. Carmindy’s products not only come in fabulous colors but these products are also very affordable. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to make a trip past the border if we want to get our hands on Carmindy’s line! But stay tuned, because I’m on a mission to find out whether us Canadians will be blessed with these hot commodities anytime soon!

Skinny meets wide leg jean

What will be our next sinful purchase, a new pair of sexy skinny jeans or shall we opt for the more sophisticated wide leg look? Just when we fashion fanatics thought this dilemma would never come to an end, we found the perfect combination of skinny meets wide leg jean. J Brand’s The Doll and Rock and Republic’s Lucy Trouser finally satisfied our undying need for the perfect pair of jeans. Paired with our trendy gladiator sandals and a cute Tee, these jeans can give us the oh-so effortlessly casual chic (but extremely sexy and put together) look. Or throw on our favourite stilettos, and instantly, we’ve got ourselves a head-turning, jaw dropping ensemble. Let’s face it ladies, sometimes our skinnies just don’t do the trick. This style combines the classy and always stylish high-waisted, wide legged trend while at the same time, they are form fitting throughout the waist and thighs giving us that hip-hugging look that that is super feminine and totally cute. Let’s not forget to mention, we spotted The Rock and Republic Lucy trousers on sale at Aritzia for only $149.99 (regular $231.00). The Doll is priced at $187.00. Not bad, for a two in one pair of designer jeans. Find The Doll at http://www.jbrandjeans.com/ and the Rock’s at Aritzia or online at http://www.shop.rockandrepublic.com/

H&M collab. with Comme des Garçons

Vancity fashionistas, brace yourselves!
The grand opening of H&M's flagship store answered the prayers of each and every fashion fanatic out there, and now H&M has yet another surprise in store for us. Summer is not yet over, but we stylish ladies just can't seem to resist taking a sneak peak at what's in store for us in the upcoming season. H&M has teamed up with outstanding designers like Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor & Rolf. Most recently, H&M collaborated with Roberto Cavalli and created sexy animal-printed mini-dresses we just couldn't say no to! This year, Comme des Garçons (French for “like some boys”), an avant-garde label, widely known for its cutting edge and artistic clothes, will be designing a line for H&M. Rei Kawakubo, also known as “the ultimate fashion rebel” and head designer of Comme des Garçons, established her fashion empire in 1973 in Japan. Since then, she has created a series of always chic and memorable lines so all you shopping addicts are in for a treat come mid-November.
Kawakubo’s Fall 2008 line (http://www.style.com/fashionshows/collections/F2008RTW/review/CMMEGRNS) consists of a lot of blacks and reds, underwear worn as outer-wear, chopped-up garments and extreme layering. While Kawakubo's experimental vision does not exactly coincide with the "every day girl" demographic that H&M is known for, she has embraced the opportunity as a "fascinating challenge". Even with our extensive knowledge of fashion, we cannot fathom what Kawakubo will come up with! Will she finally give in to the status quo of skinny jeans and cute tanks or will Kawakubo's daring and unconventional style completely transform H&M? Unfortunately, we can only (impatiently) wait and see. Visit http://www.hm.com/ for more information, and hopefully, some Comme des Garçons previews soon!
